Shifting Gears to Delivery: Volla phone apps powered by Holochain

• Volla is shipping their new Quintus smartphone with a Holochain app pre-installed! It’s the world’s first smartphone with an integrated, optional cloud from networked phones that don’t need a data center. Holochain running on value-aligned user hardware is a massive moment for the ecosystem. 

• Holo will soon begin rolling out distributed hosting services to customers. HoloFuel will be coming later. Holochain projects have been asking for our help with infrastructure and we are making that our top priority. A combination of challenges in the testing of the fully integrated platform has led to a shift in how we prioritize delivery. Holo will start by accepting HOT as payment for services. • HoloFuel is now building a broader customer base providing accounting services for decentralized cloud and DePIN projects, like Wi-Fi and ISP. A HoloFuel livestream will be coming up mid November to learn more. 

• Demand and product market fit clearly exists in several domains and with multiple partners at once. The pain points we’ve been tracking for years—e.g. for verified data, distributed accounting, verified AI, distributed socials, and edge cloud—are now an emerging part of business and government focus.

• To address all of this we’re doing significant internal restructuring. We’ll be providing updates from the resulting new groups / companies over the next weeks.

Over the last six years we’ve seen tremendous changes in the market, technology, and regulatory environments that have increased the demand for decentralized technologies and impact the way decentralized technologies can operate. Our journey has been driven by a commitment to delivering on the three promises we made to our community: a powerful decentralized app framework, a hosting tech that provides physical infrastructure, and an innovative accounting system that supports value flows. But these changes in the world have helped us realize that our delivery must also change to meet those promises. So we’ve reevaluated and shifted how Holochain, Holo, and HoloFuel can best serve you, our customers and community, as well as the larger ecosystem. Starting immediately. 

We continue to be driven by the same principles we laid out during our initial crowdfund campaigns, but our plans for how the projects get there are changing so we can move forward more effectively.
